Welcome OldSarge, you might get more response in the "bass fishing" section. Or at least I'm assuming you're a bass fisherman, if you're not, what kind of fish do you like to chase?

I fish for anything that will bite but I tend to lean towards cat fishing.

Sounds like to good place to fish, I would like to try that lake maybe later when it's not so hot outside.

I haven't put my boat in Amistad yet but looking for a good catfish hole. Can anyone help me on that ? I've made up some good catfish chum and am poised to hit the lake if I can find a decent place to start fishing it.

Unload at Diablo East ramp, go straight across the lake into Castle Canyon. Follow the Castle Canyon channel buoys. You will take a hard right into the canyon and then it bends back to the left. Go about another 1/4 mile and you will see a bunch of jugs. September and October are pretty good in that area.

I launched at Diablo and thought I was going to die, at the end of the day, when I had to walk up that long steap ramp the get the truck and trailer. I will put in at black brush next time!
