No reports that I know of Ted. After the rains there were 3-4 gates open at both damns for weeks and after that they were still letting a lot of water through genereating electricity and a pretty fast current. There probably has not been much chance to fish it until the last few weeks and most know that summer weekends are pretty challenging.Last time I fished it was probably 4 years ago. I had someone camping next to me wanting to borrow some coffee then jumped on his jet ski and crossed my rods 15' from the bank and spooled all my braid. Then crossed them again on his way back in to camp.Next time I'm going to make sure I have some coffee to share. There were reports last fall. The grass carp have pretty much taken over the lake. You most likely will catch more grass carp than commons and buff combined.Lot of grassers over 40lbs.

Yeah, last year we caught 100 fish and 94 of them were grass carp. The size is going down quickly as well. 2 years ago, I caught my PB at 48.25# that was 50" long. last year, 22#. Most were under 12.

That's alot of grass carp. Are you supposed to remove the grassies from that lake when you catch them?

Dave, a few years ago on the Ladybird side of Tom Miller Damn by law you were supposed to gut them but on the other side of the damn on lake Austin you had to release them or be fined.I would assume the laws have been changed recently but in general I'm not prepared to be gutting fish at the bank. I have no freezer space and don't wan't to just throw them someplace and people will notice it and may think all carp ,buffalo should be eraticated.

Ted there was a report last october of I believe 9 fish over 40lbs in a session. Maybe the cooler water temps and a buff or two.Historically I found the buff to come alive late september at Emma.

Lake Austin still has the grass carp permit so they must be released. According to TPWD they will not remove the permit, despite what the bass fishermen say or want
Bowfishing sucks

Scott, sounds like the grassers have found a little piece of heaven on earth. I think I can hear them partying.I wish there were not so many of them though. Everbody has razor sharp hindsight with the overstocking. The boaters probably love it and the lake is important for all forms of recreation. I personally don't care much for catching the grassers very much.
