There was a spawn here in south central Texas these past couple of weeks. eeks (second spawn for the year). I have seen a lot of sunfish/Bluegill on nest. Sunfish will usually spawn three times a year depending on conditions. I have been told by other anglers that sunfish/Bluegill can spawn 4 to 5 times a year. hmmm Did not see any fish on nest the last three times I fished. thumb

The next full moon is July 19th. If they spawn again it should be then.

Like banker, I did not find them on the beds last week.

The spawn was really messed up by very high water over the beds. The normal spawning areas were under 8 or more feet of water, and the 4 foot deep water was over normally dry land, which then dried up. Most lakes are back to normal pool so they should bed up in the usual spots again, but they were not there last week.

Try the edges of grass beds near deep water.

Quick update. They were not on the beds this morning at Joe Pool. The fish were in 8 feet of water on the bottom. They are running much smaller this year.
