Tungsten plus fluorocarbon. However, if I was searching for a sensitive rod, I would choose a northfork or batson blank. These are the only 2 produced in the US that I'm aware of. Arent Caras made in the US?

I know this will get bashed, but I have a carrot stix "Wild Black" that is super light, and super sensitive. It has become my favorite rod. I have it paired with a Quantum EXO and 15lb fluoro.

However, you brought up Loomis which is no longer produced by Gary. He has since switched to North Fork composites. For you to speak so highly of the NRX and not even mention his new products is a bit strange. Gary Loomis left the company about 10 years ago, so he wasn't even around when the NRX launched. He was also a machinist by trade and developed the proprietary rolling tables upon which GLoomis blanks are still rolled today. Steve Rayjef, the GLoomis rod designer of 32 years, is still with the company. Henry Ford died a while ago and his company namesake builds a great truck. GLoomis builds a better rod today than they did 10 years ago.

The most sensitive rod I have EVER used in that price range is the new Diawa Zillion. Can be had for right around $250. I have heard of other rods that are better for less...just haven't tried them all. If you go to Southwest Service in Dallas, they have a rack of rods that are always 50% off. I once saw a GLoomis Edge rod on there for $240. If it was what I was looking for I would have bought it. Instead, I bought a Steez rod for $280. It's a place that is certainly worth the drive. With a budget of $250, you could wind up with a $500 COMBO! Or a $500 rod. Saving some money or just making it stretch into a whole new level of gear. I have been dropping by that place for years. From time to time. And always find a screaming deal.

I bought a megabass orixx brand new 1/2 price also about a year ago. They have some great deals on rods (new and used) and on used reels, I make it a point to stop in there every couple of months just to see what else I need...

I've built on just about every blank out there available for sale. The American Tackle Matrix blank is the most sensitive Tx-rig worm rod I've ever personally fished. For $250 you can get a custom rod done up just the way you want it. There are a lot of fine builders on this site who can help you. For your price range I highly recommend the Fuji "K" series Alconite guides. My top 5 most sensitive blanks in your price range I've used are, in order: American Tackle Matrix Rainshadow Eternity 2 Phoenix K2 (a little pricey for your range) MHX High Modulus North Fork Composites P.S. Kistler's are quality rods made in the great state of Texas, you'll enjoy that rod.
I say we fish 5 days a week and work 2.

I don't own one, but used a Power Tackle, and man that was a great stick. It had Seguar yellow label 12lb test, and handled everything I threw at it.
