If you can get him, and he's hard to get, but Doug Yates at BPS is the best there is at electronics. Last I heard he charges $35 per hour.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

I've heard nothing but amazing things about Slade, and once I upgrade some of my electronics, I do plan on taking him out to have him fine tune them. But from what I've heard, it's not really an informative session. He just kinds of sets them up. So, if you're looking for a tutorial, I could be wrong, but that may not be what he offers. Not when I used him. First thing he did was get both set up then he went through all the functions and how they work and when to use them. Then we started driving and he began showing me crappie in trees, crappie beds, how bass look on the graph, etc. I was new to SI and he gave me more info than I could soak up in one trip. The trip wasn't rushed and he answered every question that I could think of. I had a tournament the next day and had an issue with one of my units. He met me at the ramp and fixed it for me. I think that we were out about 3 hours and the entire 3 hours was spent teaching. As far as someone elses question on can't you just read the manual, yes and no. I had watched tons of youtube videos, read the manual, etc. Would I eventually learn to do everything that they were capable of doing to help me fish? Maybe. Would I learn it in 3 hours, definitely not. It is like most things, you can teach yourself over time or you can be taught in a fraction of the time and spend that other time fishing. It was worth every penny for me but it had been 20 years since I had used a fish finder and these new ones were all greek to me.
