.....hmmmmm...... Do you know something that I don't? Please explain how a smaller diameter would NOT be better? Or are you saying YOU are confused?

Are you thinking that because braid floats that it would keep the lure from diving? If so.... loco

Steez is correct. The smaller diameter line will certainly get your crank bait deeper.

Thanks....it is correct. Maybe not "best". But he didn't ask for best. He asked for "deepest". Haha.

Depends on lure for me.....and what I feel most comfortable with using depending on weight of lure.

Ok then to clear things up, the title of this post is "Best line for deep diving crank baits". Most would probably would agree that 10-15 pound test fluorocarbon would be "best".

His question was what line would get the crank bait the deepest. 20# braid is smaller in diameter than 12# test fluorocarbon so it would allow your crank bait to get deeper, just depends on what he wants, the "best" or the "deepest".

Best deepest,,10-12# fluorocarbon.

Probably doesn't get as deep as fluoro, but for $7 you can get almost a lifetime supply of 12lb big game.

I know Mike Kernan uses braid on some of his deep cranking. He's done well deep cranking.

I like 12# McCoys Mean Green or 10# on open lakes. 17# for Fork or other timber lakes. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
