Any boat that you get in to go fish for crappie becomes a crappie boat.

An ice chest full of crappie makes it a crappie boat.

In the old days, a rental from Cripp's and the seven hp sea king from monkey wards, me, Mike, and a minnow bucket.

I love this question! My first answer would be the person fishing from it. Meaning, there are many on these boards who could consistently locate and catch slabs from anything that floats (I aspire to join that exclusive club some day).

But if what you're asking is, "Assuming money was no object -- describe your ideal crappie boat," I'd say:

- Big enough to withstand steady 15MPH wind
- Big enough to fish three anglers
- Minimum 40HP motor
- REALLY good electronics and GPS that make finding structure simple
- Easy to haul, put in and take out of the water

And ... drum roll here ... the one thing I REALLY want but do not yet have: A Motor Guide Xi5 with Pinpoint GPS!!!!

Some people crappie fish from bass boats, some people like aluminum boats, i personally enjoy fishing from center console boats. It's all up to personal preference and budget.

Any boat that puts you on the water the most often. Because time on the water is what makes a consistent crappie catcher.

A boat that's half covered in slab slime, has a few minnows smashed up and dried out on the floor, has packages of jigs of every color and size and jig heads stashed in every nook and cranny, and has a weird smell from that fish you forgot in your livewell last year.

Something that floats. Plan on getting a ranger rp190 in the future when I sale my current bay boat.
