Maybe this is too much to ask for, but it seems like the older men(25+) who should be the ones enforcing and keeping everybody in their place are the ones instigating the conflicts on here. Sadly the last couple days have been nothing but negative comments and bashing on other Memebers. Speaking from the standpoint of a 17 year old angler, it's pretty sad to see others completely bashing on people for fishing. Stuff happens I realize that, but keep it off social media. I'm sure a lot of you would be honored to be role models to people like myself, most of y'all are great sticks who have a lot of knowledge and that's what I would rather see you posting about. Some of y'all will see this post and continue to act like you are, which I feel bad for, but let's try to keep this a positive forum and enjoy each other's advice like I have for a couple years now. I love interacting with a lot of you, as y'all have informed me about a lot of great information, and I appreciate that. Tight lines everyone

I see the statement you are trying to make and applaud your effort but people don't change their behavoir overnight... some people just never reach a high level of maturity regardless of age. Seems like a pretty uphill battle. People handle situations in all different forms & methods and one of those happens to be posting about it on the TFF. Im only 20 and have learned to cope with and ignore situations that bother me because everyone is different and there is never going to be a way that pleases everyone 100%! I can usually tell a rant thread before I even click on it based on the title... "Acting your age" for example. If it bothers you just don't click on it lol, but I can't imagine a forum without a few threads ranting about nonsense, just how it is

There is zero room for truth, facts and kindness on the Internet. Great post!

Walker, it is going to take you a few more seasons to figure this out, but most of these "sticks" can't tie their own shoes, let alone bass fish. Dan

I have a 31yo son. His brain is now fully developed and he can now see the errors he made as a child of only 25 or so. You are expecting too much to believe a twenty something (especially a millenial) will behave like a mature gentleman. Give em time, then laugh at the stupid stuff you and they did and wonder how you could have been so dumb. I'm old and still remember the stupid ideas I had as a kid that I was so sure of at the time.

Good post, Walker, appreciate the effort. I look forward to reading your posts about your fishing exploits in the future. Unfortunately the relative anonymity of online forums gives a lot of people the chance to spout off. Not that some of them aren't jerks in real life, too, but on here they won't get punched out.
Tight lines back at ya...

I thought I was pretty smart when I got older (into my late 20's) but when I got into my 30's I looked back and thought, Wow, I was such an obnoxious jerk in my 20's. Then When I turned 40, I looked back and thought, Wow, I was pretty stupid when I was in my 30's. I am so glad I am now all grown up and intelligent. When I turned 50, Once again I looked back and thought, Well, I wasn't as dumb in my 40's as I was in my 30's but I was still pretty dumb... You sound like you are way ahead of me when I was your age by the sound of your post. I hope you have a father that spends time with you and takes you fishing. You sounds like a great young man.

I'm 17 also and have noticed the same thing on here. But not only that, a lot of people on here say that the younger generation is losing all respect on the water. I have had multiple people run up on my spots while I'm fishing. None of them have ever been kids.

It's bad enough when 3 grown men have to let you know to not fish in there.

I have had multiple people run up on my spots while I'm fishing. None of them have ever been kids. I know the feeling. However they have been fishing longer. By fishing minimum of 3 times a week in High School, 3-4 times a week in college, and now 4-5times a week. You speed up the learning curve. With enough time, anything can be found. Electronics are to blame more than anything.

In that same breath, these older guys are supposed to be the ones setting examples and teaching their kids and younger generations how to handle themselves. So if they have complaints to make about the younger generation, they only have themselves to blame. And Walker you are right. Most of these guys are like 15 year old girls on here talking junk to anyone and everyone. But step back and think how many of these that are that way are really any good? I haven't seen any of their names at the top of the finishing lists. A "stick" to me has a very debatable definition. Just my
