My buddy sent me this pic today. He caught this on the east coast, and my first guess was a Creek Chub with an infection of some sorts. Anyone know what's going on here? His fish...

Definitely a hybrid of gaspergoo and sac a lait, with a little of gator gar and speckled trout mixed in.

Don't know what it is but whatever you do don't eat it.

I have caught dozens of those in Virginia. Doesn't look to be unusal.
We called them horny head chubs.

It is a variety of Sucker fish, I don't know the exact species but I caught plenty of them fly fishing in northern Arkansas.

Agree with Trap. I have caught them fly fishing streams in New Hampshire and Virginia. Guides identified them as suckers.

I'm guessing it's a male river chub. I don't think the male creek chubs get the swollen heads like the male river chubs do during mating season.
