Do this when you get the right balance of rod and weight.

I rarely use a leader longer than 3'. Try the biggest weight with the smallest worm. How guys throw Magnum flukes on 1/4oz weight is beyond me.

LOL mag flukes are the toughest to throw on a crig, i believe when throwing a mag fluke u need that perfect rod that can help u launch a 1oz weight...too stiff of a rod wont throw a mag fluke far

I guess I'm the odd guy here, but I throw mine almost like a roll cast I started doing this along time ago fishing a light c rig around boat docks and low bridges it helped me get the crig under the low overhangs and provide a soft landing under the boat docks. I have very little issues throwing a crig with lighter weights this way too.

Just to add to some of the suggestions, you can also put a stopper or two above your weight. Not actually pegged, but an inch or so up. You will still get the sound but the weight won't move. I use the BPS sinker stops, they are really good, cheap, and easy to put on ( http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Sinker-Stops/product/44440).

Heavy weight and more of a swinging cast.

What type of weights do you guys use when C-Rigging? Bullet, sinker, egg? And what brand?

One ounce weight and longer rod and if you are close to Squaw creek during the winter months that is one of the best places to gain confidence in using a Carolina rig.

Not sure how the bait could go that much further than the weight. If you put a glass bead below the weight but above the swivel, and a bobber stopper at the top of the weight, the bait can go no further than the length of the leader. Sounds like you do not have it rigged right.
