It seemed fairly slow Saturday. At least to me. I didn't see a whole lot of fish being caught either......We caught around 30 fish between my oldest son and I in a 4 hour window but only 2 were over 10"! We did get started late, my youngest got sick and I turned around halfway to the lake and took him home, we didn't hit the water until 7:30. By then the action was all around the dam. They were schooling good but weren't too crazy about what we were throwing. Chartreuse or chrome slabs, gold or silver Kastmasters, A-rig, none of them were standout over the other. Was it just me?

Me, my son and a co-worker were at the dam also, they were schooling good yes but lots of small ones, what we did was throw a 1/4 white slab and let it sink to the bottom and real and bounce up threw them and we cuaght 20 keepers 12 to 13inchs, sometimes it wouldnt make it to the bottom and still cuaght small ones but we did puck up bigger fish that way and caught so many all together lost count! Was a fun day for us, oh, my son was catching his on a blue and crome little goerge

We tried that technique too but just couldn't seem to make the bigger ones bite. With the wind it was hard to hold in and around the schools without drifting into the other boats! I think I need to add more colors to my sandbass fishing lure selection. Never had much trouble catching them on chrome and gold colors but I might need to try some others too. We might give it another go before the holiday weekend hits.....

We were out there from about 1:30-4 yesterday and it seemed like there were fish surfacing all over the place. Found a massive school in about six feet of water, behind the island at the west end of the dam. Numerous smaller schools all along the dam. One other large school straight out from the marina about 500 yards.

I didn't have trouble finding schools, just getting them to bite! Of the fish we did catch there was nothing of any size. I even tried letting the lure sink to below the school to try and pick up some bigger ones but that didn't seem to work. Talking to a guy at the ramp he seemed to have the same issue as I did. I saw most of the boats were catching but it wasn't crazy action and the fish they were catching were dinks like what I was catching. But there may have been others out there doing better. Was the catching any better on Sunday?

The family wanted to kneeboard so I only fished the school at the island for about 15 minutes. Caught a couple around 12"-13" on a Storm swim bait. Had a ton of smaller fish follow it to the boat. I think it was just too big compared to shad they were feeding on.

Took my son there yesterday and it was the as you described. We started fishing near the marina and then to dam about 8:00. Followed the school for about 2_1/2 hours. We caught over 100 but only had maybe 20-25 keepers. Threw all of them back. Need to find larger fish.

I stumbled into a cove north of Jordan park on 6/29 at about 6:30 in the evening. It was like the water was boiling. Sand bass everywhere. I had been crappie fishing so didn't have much to throw at the sand bass. I found a pretty small shallow diving crankbait (KVD 1.5 runs about 3' deep) to throw at them. I caught about 50 fish in an hour and a half. It was a lot of fun. Mostly small fish. Probably had 15 keepers out of 50. When I left the fish were still surfacing in the cove. If I was going to fish for sand bass on a regular basis I would definitely fish with something with no treble hooks or just one, the action gets fast and furious and unbuttoning those little guys can get dangerous.

I agree onfirecrappie. It seems the smaller the fish the more hooks they get in their mouth. I either cut one of the treble hooks off or replace with a single AND I smash down the barbs when fishing for sandies.
