I have never understood the people that spend a day following a pro during the tournament. Seems to me, if you know him or like him, you would leave him alone to do his thing and check him out at the weigh in. Stalking a fisherman all day just baffles me, but that's just me. My thoughts exactly. Was out on Toledo Bend the week the Elites were there. I was just out doing some fishing minding my own business and for the most part fishing out of the way new places, did alot of graphing etc. It was very bizarre to me seeing all the stalker boats high tailing it behind various pros all day long. Guy's by themselves, boat's with two or three people just a really weird deal in my opinion. You on the number one lake in the USA and you want to run around all day burning gas to watch someone else fish. I can guarantee you that the spectator boats affect the outcome of some of these tournaments.

Would you consider going to a cowboys or rangers game "stalking"? People are fans of fishing, not just fish.

Sitting in a boat 100 + yards away watching some dude catch what might be a decent bass does not seem like fun IMHO. I would rather spend time at the booths and festivities and wait until the weight in. It's more of an experience.

My personal opinion is to give way to any tournament angler. If I am fun fishing or pre-fishing for a tournament and I come around a corner and there is another boat, I always ask if they are in a tournament. If so, I go way around or just leave. I hope that's some Karma that I can have returned some day.

And, my wife is fat and I lover her to death and if you have a problem with that, get a life!! You better hope she doesn't lurk on here! Lol, was thinking the same thing. If I wrote those words to live on the internet and my girl saw them I would be dead by sundown.

I would never follow a pro around during a tournament and fish all his spots. I also would not bolt a spot I was in so a pro could fish it for the tournament. In my opinion, if I am there and he shows up, it is on him to show courtesy and find something else until I leave. That goes both ways.

I have no desire to be on a lake where a B.A.S.S. tourn. or practice is going on.

""He would of been a head case if he had to deal with what Christie did at the classic. We, along with 70-80 other boats, followed him at Grand. If it hadn't been for Edwin's unbelievable day, he would of won. Didn't affect his fishing one bit. Clunn was on LIVE and scolded another boat. It was too early for LIVE when he jumped us. Hell, I'd be flattered to death if someone wanted to watch me fish lol.""
do you suppose Jason might have won if he didn't have 70-80 boats following him...if Jason had caught 4lbs more each day,he would have won.......does anybody believe that 70-80 boats with depthfinders running and trolling motors being bumped on and off doesn't affect the fish in an area?.... the only solution to having a fair tournament is for us as fishermen to stay off the lake during elite or flw tournaments and encourage other fishermen to do the same... Jason was coming out of a pocket on day 1 and a bunch of boat were piled up on the bank he was coming up. Talking and laughing and just having a good time. Everyone got on their TM and got out of the way and he caught a 3 right where they were sitting. We followed clunn cause we thought we might learn something about the spinnerbait technique he said was a "lost art". I fish texoma on occasion I thought it would be cool to see how those guys broke down the lake.

Ok lets say a father and his kids were sitting on bank fishing when Hackney pulled in, should the father tell his kids to pull their lines in, a pro needs to fish right here so he can make a living ? We can go to another lake or another spot, its the right thing to do, don't worry about only getting to go fishing a couple times a year, this pro is way more important. I know this is a little far fetched but how do we know that the guy in the boat was not there first, how do we know how many times a year he gets to go fish, maybe he was trying to impress his lady ? Who knows ? Now if he did cut Hackney off then maybe he is just not very bright and does not know any better, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, besides that Hackney won, maybe the guy did him a favor.

Roger I see your point and I would say absolutely not to the first scenario you posed about the father & kids. If you go way back on this thread, Fouzman said Hackney was first in there first. I wasn't there but someone that was there said Hackney was in there first. Everyone seems to have ignored that however.
And like I stated earlier, the lake was NINE feet above normal last week when the BASS event started, meaning that area was DRY ground a week before the event so there is NO Way that guy was in there prior to the tournament.
