When you have presentations like these, are they ever recorded so that they can be viewed on the website later? Is that a possibility?
The DFF (along with the FWFF'ers, RRFF'ers, and other clubs across the state) have presentations similar to this one every month. The amount of good information that is available is one of the major benefits of the fly fishing clubs.
To answer your question, No, the DFF does not record their monthly meetings. Someone asked a similar question last year, and there are a lot of moving parts that would have to be dealt with to do something like that.
Here are a few of the issues:
- Someone has to have the equipment and skill to do it. (I personally have neither.) Keeping in mind the location is a darkened room with 60 or more people in it (that's a lot of background noise and difficult lighting situation).
- Need a place to on the web to save it. The presentations are about an hour in length, so that's a little bigger challenge than just uploading a 5 minute fly tying video to YouTube.
- We would need to insure the speakers will agree to allow it be done. I don't think all of them would agree to allow it. We do get some well known speakers and some of them may not allow a full copy of their presentation to be posted. We've had authors speak and they've shown copyrighted material (their own), but I don't if we would have the ability/permission to re-show it??
My personal opinion, I think we're still a few years away from being able to do something like that. I do think that in the future you will see the clubs start posting more videos, but I don't think we're there yet.
Just my 2 cents...
