After a limit of bull reds on crab, we were soaking mullet hoping to put more gafftops in the box when this guy showed up and gave us some excitement. My first Crevalle Jack, 22 lbs, 41 inches long. We filleted him, and his meat was really very good, somewhere between redfish and tuna: great on the grill.

You must not have any taste buds.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

The Jack Cravelle is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Jack Family. They are great fun on light tackle. They pull as harder than most fish , pound for pound,
Lots of folks who have never eaten one ( that includes me) will tell you they are no good to eat.
I knew a Captain in Biloxi that claimed if you bleed them well and only took the fillet above the lateral line , they were decent.
I am looking for something better than decent for eating

Nobody short of a shark eats a Jack. Pound for pound they are one of the strongest fighters there is.
The Sheep who only fears the Wolf is eaten by the Shepherd.

That beer must have been good. You must not have any taste buds.

Caught one about that size a few weeks back in the Mustang Island surf. That was a long, tiring fight pulling that sucker in. I agree that no other fish caught from the surf will fight like them pound for pound.

I know a lot of people consider them trash fish or whatever but that is definitely a bucket list fish for me. Hell, I'd even try to grill it up and eat it just to say I did!
