A couple of years ago a buddy and I made a week long fishing trip down at redfish bay and laguna madre. Was one of my first trips fishing at the coast so every fish i caught was an experience. I have been seeing multiple pics of speckled trout that are anywhere from 15-20 inches long. This made me wonder about a particular catch of my own, i caught a 32.5" trout and would really like to know if its really that rare. Is it mount worthy? I am by no means bragging about my trip just trying to find out if its worth paying for the replica mount. Any input would be appreciated. Also, if and when i make a return trip should i expect anything like that again?

A 30"+ speckled trout has been my goal for approximately 40 years. I've fished for specks from Port O'Connor to Port Mansfield and to date, a 28 incher has been my best. I'll be trying again next week!

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder as far as what is worthy of being mountable. To one kid or man it could be 27" ... to another it could 30".
Also mounts with multiple big fish in them make for some awesome displays.

While Grinder makes a fair point, to be frank, that's a trophy fish. As alluded to, anything over 30 is wall worthy. I caught a 29.5 and didn't blink in deciding to mount it. Cool story too as I caught it on the fly. Needless to say, I can pretty much guarantee the fiberglass mount I have is the best trout mount you've ever seen. Trout in general are very difficult to mount and get the iridescence right. Marine Creations is the name of the taxidermist. Based out of Florida and maybe a bit pricey but well worth it! Mine is the first one in the trout gallery: http://marinecreations.homestead.com/Seatroutgallery.html

32.5 is a rare fish. Lots will fish a long time and not catch one that size. Lower coast is them best place.
No you should not expect it again. It might happen however.

Big rare fish, a 32.5". My BIL caught a 31" on a croaker in Baffin and he didn't even care (might have been one of the few fish he every caught) . Was a work related guided trip. He got it mounted and gave it to someone. I'm not sure what I would do if I got a 30" fish. Still trying.

Freaking unreal trophy of a lifetime. Where, guide?
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

Get a replica mount, as suggested. Last way longer than a real one.

no Eyeball, it was a spring break trip a buddy and i went on, we pulled his boat down there and fished all week. That day we went out of laguna madre, early march, caught her on a pink back jerk bait fishing the same technique as i would for bass. Do y'all have any taxidermists around the DFW/North tx area that y'all recommend?

My biggest was a 29.5. I was 20yrs old, 1984. Had I known then what I know now that fish would be on my wall. Any fish over, or near, that 30 inch mark is a true trophy fish.
