Hi everyone,
First post, yall have a great site I have been looking for a good Texas fishing forum! We recently purchased a 22 foot Bluewave super T with a 150 VTEC. I am really excited about it but also weary this my first bay boat. I have also not done alot of boat fishing in the bays. We have a house on Copano bay. This is all new to me so I am open to any suggestions.

Anyone out there have fist hand experience with the blue wave in these types of conditions? I hear there are a lot of reefs in Copano so that is why I worry about the boat. I still have lots to learn with reading the water and such. Can I get pretty shallow with this boat? It seems to have a great holeshot. The boat is three years old and only 30 hours. Twice I had the alarm go off for temp in the canal getting out to Copano. This makes me nervous it was squirting water...I am thinking I did not have it trimmed down enough(the canal is shallow). Any first time hints would be great. Thanks
Clint

Clint, get you a good gps ,with depth, unit and buy the navionics gold card for it pay attention you will be fine. Copano is one of my favorite bays to fish. just pay attention until you get use to the bay. I would guess your hole shot to be about 18-20" and draft about 12-15". just a guess. good luck

Thanks for the welcome guys and gals. The boat has a Garmin Color GPS with mapping. I bought the chip that had Copano bay on it...I do not believe it was the navionics. I still need to get used to it. It did not seem to have much marked when I zoomed in just water depth. I did not see the reefs or anything. Again I need more time with it. What are the best methods for GPS do you use the hand held maps to enter hot spots?? Thanks and keep the advice coming.
Clint

Hey ckill im a blue wave salesman in corpus and if you have any questions about your boat let me know, a water pressure guage is a invaluable tool to help you get around in shallow water. You can watch your water pressure guage and know when you have jacked your motor up too far. You made an excellent choice with your blue wave. Mitchb "Standing by"

sure does,it just monitors how much water your motor is pumping,it doest cost much either, usually just the cost of another guage maybe 100 bucks.

Mitch thanks for the advise I will do some research on the gauge. I guess water coming out of the squirter is not an good enough indication. It is not a good feeling when that alarm goes off. I can wait to get started fishing this season. This boat does not have a jack plate, I have been told both ways, needed and not needed. Thanks again.

the boat has a recessed transome and a jack plate will not help at all,it is not needed, a $40 dollar set of engine wedges makes an already great hole shot even better. the 22 blue wave is per parkes and wildlife stats by far the numberone selling boat in tx hands down you made a great choice.
