I have installed all power and mounts for head unit on my new elite 7ti, it has a total scan stranducer! Like the fact that I don't need multiple transducers! I am unsure of where exactly I need to mount it, I have an idea but wanted to clarify before drilling in transom! I am confused on how to post pics can someone break it down for me?

There are two things you have to allow for.
First, is if you want 2D sonar and Depth when on plane, the bottom of the transducer has to be at or just below the bottom of the hull. It don't work without water contact.
Second, is the two Side Scan crystals have to be able to "see" to the left and right so you need side clearance for the Scan pulses.

wow, I didn't think it was supposed to be mounted anywhere within 3 feet to the port side of a clockwise rotatimg prop? (video) but I guess he is mounting for trolling speeds since it is up on the step... This came with my new Elite 7 DSI, just remember you need to clear to the sides also with a sidescan unit.

Wow, I was going to mount this ducer today but after searching the net I have seen so many contradicting locations and mfg recommendations being shot down I'm totally not sure where to put it. I have a stepped transom which raises more questions. My previous one was mounted in the #4 area above but it was too far out of the water for high speed operation. I am leaning toward #3 on the back of the inside step where all the drains and pickups are and between strakes.
Any thoughts?

I just mounted a Lowrane LSS-2 transducer on my bay boat. I mounted it in the step area for protection. It is also low enough it shoots past the stakes and trim tabs on each side. Very pleased.
