I have a Motorguide 40lb.foot control on my 20 ft. pontoon boat. Bought it on C L about 5 years ago. Have had no problems with it at all. As it is a pontoon boat it does well unless the wind is up and blowing hard. Great for coves and in general.
May your wiener schnitzel always stay above your lederhosein.

Helix 5 You can never have too much trolling motor. I would opt for a 36v 100+ lbs of thrust.

At least 70 lb. thrust with 60" shaft. more thrust the better. Hand, foot control, I-pilot, Ulterra, that is your call there.

Just depends on what you want to spend $$$$ ? Like I said I spent $65.00 on mine , and have not had any problems.

Minimum 24v and 70 lb. 36v even better and batteries will last much longer the higher the voltage.
Expensive up front but will pay for itself in the long run. I think 55lb is max on 12v system but
A 24v on half power will out pull a 12v on full power even with they were same thrust rating and will be less drain on the battery.

Just bought a 20' G3 pontoon. Had the dealer install 54lb thrust foot controlled. They would not do a 24v, they said I would regret the xtra weight and didn't need it. So far, it works great and feels like it has enough power. Really glad I got it installed. I can be sitting in the back eating a sandwich or having a cold one while we cruise the shoreline back in a cove.

I'm definitely considering one with the i-pilot. That was really tempting but didn't feel like it was worth the xtra $$$ for a pontoon. Super cool though.

Guessing it depends on the dealer. I bought a 20' G3 and had a 70#/24v minn kota installed on a quick release plate. As others have said, the more the better but the 70# is awesome. They installed both batteries under the driver console so fairly easy to get to. Starting battery is under the popup changing room so all are easy to access. Previous 20' G3 had a 54# and was okay in light winds or in a cove. Someone else said it best, "it may cost more up front but pays in the long run", and you'll be much happier.
