Regardless of whether it's a Lund or whatever brand, or aluminum versus fiberglass construction would any of you owners of a Deep-V switch to another style of boat?

My answer: Cannot see a need or desire for ever switching to another design.

Only if I lived on the Gulf Coast. Then I would have to have a bay boat.

My V17 is great for these lakes up here!

Hope this helps.........

Sheldon.....I second your answer. I have a Ranger 681 Fisherman. My previous boat was a modified V design. I can honestly say the deep V design is my favorite. It certainly is a more stable design and you will really appreciate the handling in rough waters. I might also add the Ranger 681 is the perfect crappie fishing boat especially when fishing with small children.

Having owned a center console and then a flat bottom "crappie rig", I can say that I'm seriously shopping for a "deep-V" type boat. The flat bottomed crappie rig is okay for flat water days but get the slightest chop and it's rivet check time.

I am looking at Alumacraft and Tracker Targa's right now. The Lund I like is way out of my price range. It appears Alumacraft and Tracker Targa's have copied alot of features from Lund but on a much more affordable platform.

I absolutely loved the Tracker Targa I saw at the boat show - roomy, wide, high gunwales and the right price.

Like they said not up here.In a shallow water situation all would change but fishing fresh water inland lakes in the manner that they are layed out with wide open waters on most all it has got to be the safer design for rough waters between you and the ramp.

I have two boats in my driveway right now that are for sale. One is a Ranger 18'6", it is sold, the other is a 20'2" ProCraft. The ProCraft has a much deeper V in the bow area than the Ranger. The Ranger is an 84, 373 V. It rides like a modifide flat bottom, rough and hard, while the ProCraft with the deeper cut is like riding in a Caddy convert, with the top down, even when it gets rough.

Catch ya again sometime!

I'm very happy with my 161 stinger Smokercraft. This is my first big boat and if I buy another one, it will probably be on the same style of boat. fish

In my experience the Deep V models are the bomb! I remember a RayCraft Deep V we once owned prior to our buying a Ranger and then a Champion fiberglass model that was everything one really needed in a boat. The RayCraft which we nicknamed "Toad" will always have a space reserved in my heart for the many fishing memories it helped us to live out on the water!

In regards to Lund as a product itself, I think a company knows they have an amazing product when people who do not currently own them speak so highly of them! After fishing with Guy Skinner in the Spring of 2006, I made up my mind then and there, there would be no other boat, other than a Lund in our future!

Jeff

Yeah Guy owns a Triton and it's a nice Deep-V boat as well.

Thanks for the replies so far. Just to get back to the original question:

Having owned or fished regularly from a Deep-V, would you ever want to change to another boat design? Expand if you like as to why: yes or no.

Assume a no salt water related future.

I'll be signing off here very soon because I'm sailing to Mexico from Galveston shortly.

OMG. Brainfarts Deluxe. It's all coming back to me....Guy does own a Triton! See what happens after spending the previous week in sub-zero temperate zones like Maine and then spending yesterday tying up about 10 dozen jigs :P

Are you sure Guy didn't buy a Lund and slap a Triton label on it?...Just kidding.

May I have BBQ Sauce to go with my crow please? OMG, panic attack no In-Fisherman Shows for me this week until I have a mental cleanse!

Loved Guys boat regardless
