Fished my home lake mostly deep, 12-17-23' but found some 8-9'. I guess they were schooling near a school of shad which was hanging out near a big stump that came up to 6-7'. I pitched next to stump and caught one right after the other. MATCH THE HATCH It wasn't really anything I did, just pitch it out and slowly let it swing back. The jig did all the action. Caught almost all of them on this one jig. lol The little Slab Bug must have matched the shad fry exactly. The little flipper tails, size and color must have been dead on. They smacked it. Battle worn & battle tested. lol Not much left of the little fellar. Moved out to 17' to look for bigger fish and caught a few good ones, including one right at 2. Good times! And good luck to ya.

Nice report...glad to see you're fishing.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Thanks all! Appreciate it. Any day out on the lake is a good one. Glen and I were able to fish some yesterday afternoon and caught around 40. Sometimes things just work out. It was a good day despite the north wind. I still feel the boat rocking, even though I'm on dry land... if you know what I mean. I suppose it is a similar pattern on all lakes this time of year, approx. 13-17'. Most seem to have settled into their summer pattern even though some still had eggs. We found some ganged up deeper, but they were all small. Also caught a couple of good blacks. Wear sunscreen even though it's cool or cloudy. (I learned the hard way.) Good luck out there!
