Depends on the county where you received the ticket. He could have gone on vacation or any other reason for the ticket not being turned in yet. Six days is kind of long for it to not be turned in. Your secrecy in the story and mentioning the wrong time and buying a one day license, or whatever sounds like you are planning on using the old "they made an error on the ticket and it will be dismissed" approach. If that is the case, then no, they do not dismiss a citation for an error. That's an old wives tale. If you go tell the judge that you had it and he testifies that you told him you didn't (remember, he might even have video) will do nothing but [censored] the judge off at you and you'll get hit harder in the pocket book.
You are obligated to take care of the citation by paying the fine or setting a court date by a certain time. That information should be on your citation. Go into the court and try to pay it or set a court date. If they do not have it on file, ask to have it dismissed. That may involve seeing the judge. Whatever the outcome, ask for something in writing. A clerk may have just entered it into the computer wrong. If you do nothing and hope that it just goes away, you'll find out sometime in the future when you get arrested on a warrant and have additional fees to pay.
They deal with this stuff all the time so follow through with it in person. Don't rely on a phone call and make it a he said she said because you'll lose that one every time.

You should get a ticket just for punctuation. What adult types like that?

You should get a ticket just for punctuation. What adult types like that? I was thinking the same thing.. First off, one day, one week, one year, it doesn't matter. Expired is expired and the GW was right to write you a citation. If you really feel lucky, show up by the assigned date on the ticket and tell the court that you want to set a court date for a trial. You will be given one, that's your right. Both you and the GW will have a chance to plead your side. If the GW fails to appear, or you can convince the judge that you should not have been given a citation, the ticket will be dismissed, so you just need to ask yourself, "Do I feel lucky today" because if you aren't lucky that day, you may be looking at a fine plus court costs. You were in the wrong and you know it. Go pay the ticket and then on the way out stop at Walmart and buy a license and put this drama to rest.

You guys need to read what the OP actually posted instead of piling on. He isn't arguing his culpability, he is asking how long it takes for the ticket to be filed because he is in a hurry to pay it for some reason. Anyway, others have already answered his question.

Maybe you need to re-read it, the OP is wanting to get out of the ticket thinking that if the GW doesn't or won't turn in the ticket in a quick fashion he will be free & clear of the fine. Then he thinks that the GW post dated the ticket to give him time to go purchase a new license. Yeah right...

omg! lololololol *PLEASE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES PAY THE CITATION* Feel free to drop this secrete codename... "Moon Pie"... if any legal matters arise. TPWD Wardens use this code to know who is in the "cool club" so to speak. Just don't abuse it! its really only good for one time.
Go home at the end of your shift, no matter the cost!

"Hi I really really don't want to get into any specifics but game warden pulled up the other night and banged into the side of my boat about 7 or 8 times looked all through it took my license and wrote me a ticket for fishing without a fishing license in my pocket I do have the last three years fishing licenses in a little pile with the ticket and I would like to take them up there and explain my side of the story but I know I'm just going to get screwed so I just wanted to know when I need to go pay this stupid thing off how long do they wait before they turn in the ticket?"
Sounds to me like somebody doesn't want to be accountable. You knew the law. You failed, either by accident or by intent, to comply. The GW's job is to cite noncompliance. The judge is the one who is supposed to decide punishment. There is an appearance date on the citation; you need to respond to the court on or before that date to inform them how you wish to address the charge. Don't know you, but you sound like a lot of the violators I dealt with when I worked in a boat: "OHMYGAWD!!!! I thought you were going to run over me!!!! You scared me and my family to death!!!!! (He wouldn't take it out of gear and allow me to approach, even with my lights and siren on). Or, "You get your hands off of my boat!", or, "Don't you tie your boat off to mine until I say you can!", or "I need to see a warrant first."
I wasn't there so I don't know what happened, but from the tenor of your post it sounds like you need to man up and deal with it, not whine on a public forum about how you're getting screwed.

it was the first time I've ever been stopped by the game warden in Texas Lucky you. I am stopped several times a year. I am a game warden magnet. They check me to the letter of the law on everything looking to write a ticket and that is just a fact. They always do a CSI level check on my boat. Where are these game warden turds when I see all the unsafe carp and no wake areas being violated on most of the lakes I fish? Never mind...

I see more game wardens on Canyon than I have combined every other lake that I fish.
