Do one of you fellow fisherman know where I can get some crickets or redworms in the dfw area?

Academy has nightcrawlers. So does Petsmart, but they are more expensive. I buy Super Worms at Petsmart, they have packages of 25 or 50. I like Super Worms because they do not need to be kept refrigerated.

If your close to Irving there's a lady there that sales them for reptiles. Probably much cheaper than a pet store.
Her name is Lynn. 972) 254-6124 Tell her Carl sent you. I used to buy bearded dragons and crickets from her.

Try flies on a 3wt fly rod. It's great.
Side Note: If using live bait I would stay with worms. Easy to get and easy to keep. They also work very well.

We get our redworms from Walmart or Basspro... Gotta check 'em to make sure they are wigglin', however.

You can make a cricket trap yourself, leave it in the house with a light, and catch your own crickets. A shoe box works great.
I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)

I get my crickets from a cricket farm via USPS in about 2-3 days. I buy 1,000 at a time and freeze them in prescription bottles of 50-75 in each bottle. When I want to go fishing, I grab how ever many bottles I'll need and off I go. They keep easily a year and work just as good as live ones. Don't waste your time catching the black crickets you see at night under lights. Bream are very reluctant to eat them. They like Grey Crickets you get from a farm. Armstrong Cricket Farm in La is one but you can find others with Google. Oh yea. Much much cheaper getting them from a farm compared to petsmart.

Try Mann's Bait House At Ray Hubbard. Call first because they sell out pretty quick.

Thanks guys. I never thought about freezing them. I knew black crickets didn't work well.

Was at ray bob a couple weekends ago and hit several bait shops. Couldn't find any crickets. We went with worms and caught tons of fish with kiddos. I got home and my local pet store is the only place I found other than online.

Don't go to the pet stores for crickets. Order them online I use premium crickets out of Georgia. You'll get a lot better deal than any pet store. Just my two cents worth. Oh and use the next day shipping with it being this hot. It's well worth it.

Midlothian feed store on 287 has the cheapest crickets. They will even order bulk, 1,000 for 20.00 I think
