Anybody know of any spots in the Houston area where I might catch one or two? I just want to cross it off of the list of species I've caught. We've all been there. The one fish everybody's caught before but you haha

My parents lived in Houston for several years and frequently fished Lake Conroe to catch crappie. I don't know of any water holding crappie inside of Houston itself. Maybe someone more local or with insight into local ponds and community watersheds will read your post and comment. Sorry I don't have more to offer in the way of info. Good luck!

I know there are quite a few crappie in Lake Houston but never fished it so couldn't tell you where to go. There is a separate online site for the lake houston fishing forum - they might be able to give you better direction, but I would be highly surprised if anyone gives up there honey hole (for obvious reasons). There are a ton of local ponds in the Houston area with crappie in them - at least I have been told, but I haven't come across them yet, and if I did I would be highly reluctant to give up a honey hole with so many people living in the area. Plus there is a highly prevalent Catch-&-not release philosophy among many crappie fisherman I have run into. Good luck, and I would recommend minnows for faster locating them!

try the west side of FM 1960 bridge where the marina is. You can walk the south side of the rocks near the bridge and n\bank fish - if you can get there. I wouldn't risk it with all the rain and water in the San Jacinta River though.

They'll bobble and run with the float. They have very soft mouths, don't jerk, kinda just lift.
