According to Bass & Walleye Boats Mag. War Eagles are fine boats, a lot of bang for the bucks! They are built to last. But as a Bass boat, they suffered a bit form the fact that they were over built. The tests on the War Eagle Bass boats were very positive, I see no reason why their offering of a Crappie rig would be any different. It looks like everything was well thought out for this rig and should keep the Crappie Fisherman very happy.

I looked at them as well when doing my boat search.

I'd be sure to examine the Deep-Vs like a Lund. They are great to fish from and work very well with children in the boat.

A very nice looking rig for sure one of the best I have seen. The setup is cool with plenty of livewell and baitwell. I don't care for low freeboard tho but that is me.
I recommend that you need to spend a few hours looking at the boat. Take 100 pictures, touch and open, look over and under. Look at other boats in the same price and setup range. If you like the boat, start talking to the factory. Talk to the CSR, CSR manager, QA department (ask about issues, boats return...)just see how far you can go as a customer calling. I did just that with the top companies that I liked.

If you look at a Lund and talk to Joe, just mention my name and you will receive a good laugh. I am very well known at the Lund factory from all the calls and emails. (Maybe not in a good way...lol) But I am getting exactly what I want. My boat will be the most complex boat that Joe has rigged to date, per Joe.

If nothing else, remember my line:

"You HAVE to ask for they will not offer."

Sabot is defiantly right about the low water line. Myself and my fishing partner were on Lake Lewisville last year with 30mph winds and some 10 ft. high rollers in a 17 ft. Lund without a problem. We have pictures to prove it. I doubt as if the War Eagle would have done very well in this situation. Also the Lund with the deep V bow rides a whole lot better than the War Eagle would with the flatter front end and bottom. Lunds are made to handle rough water. I don't think I would have even felt safe in the War Eagle. But I must admit, I like the layout of the War Eagle, that looks very well thought out. I would still take the Lund though.

War Eagle builds a good boat.
That boat has seating for two. The seat bases are too far away from the bow for trolling IMHO. It is gonna ride like a jon boat even with the mod V hull.
Check out the layout of the Lund Explorer Crappie Edition. It has 3 seat bases, 2 livewells, 2 bait wells. Rod storage, 24 volt t/m wiring and a heck of alot better ride. The lund will set you back a few more dollars but you'll save that in one year on less visits to the dentists replacing fillings....

I'm gonna start a new topic asking Deep-V owners if they would go back to another style.

If you like that boat you would love a Lund or Alumacraft. Much better. that boat seating is way too far back.

I have two boats in my driveway right now that are for sale. One is a Ranger 18'6", it is sold, the other is a 20'2" ProCraft. The ProCraft has a much deeper V in the bow area than the Ranger. The Ranger is an 84, 373 V. It rides like a modifide flat bottom, rough and hard, while the ProCraft with the deeper cut is like riding in a Caddy convert, with the top down, even when it gets rough.
