I guess I have more time to realize what is going on since retirement. I have noticed a very strong correlation between catfish position and the wind. Since I have become aware I try to fish the shallow weeds that have the strongest wind and my catch rate has improved. On Lake fork I have noticed that almost identical weed beds at the same depth fish very different depending on how the wind is blowing. when I had a job I just fished every Saturday no matter what the weather was. I wasted a bunch of time trying to avoid the wind. I started fishing with Stubbys last year and that alone improved my catch rate greatly.

I know the lakes I fish the wind really chums up some good food for the fish. I've gone from just catching a few to then the wind picks up and the day turns to a ice chest full.
Stubby makes a good bait there. One of my fishing buddies was asking for the crackers, he thought it was some kind of cheese dip. Good clean bait there Stubby. Thought about letting him try it, but he ate some dog food back in duck season. We still haven't told him it was not stew.

Wind defiantly is a factor. Yesterday between I wish fishing lavon ( bank) around 6:30 no wind .. 7 east wind starts blowing good.. = bird activity, shad moving shallow and plenty of hook ups no kitties only sandies but no skunk! Just saying wind is your friend

The wind is your friend this time of year until October cork fishing. The more wind you have the more current , the faster they get to the wheat. You can be on them and go from a bite as soon as it hits the water to a bite every 10 min when the wind quits. It's really bad when a south wind has been blowing hard for a couple of days and then stops before a front, you can see the current on points and trees as the lake goes back.

I love a stiff wind. I have seen Toledo Bend go from glass to crashing waves like at the beach. The fishing goes from a nibble here and there to having to go down to 3 rods from 8 because I can't keep up with them. The lake is so big you can hear the wind coming 10 min before it gets to you. Then you see the shad being shoved up against the rocks. The predators sit out several feet and gorge on the dead and injured shad that get bashed on the rocks. Nasty storm this night. I was soaking wet. The wind and rain were rough but so worth it.

wind is for sure your friend! Not only for distributing the scent but it pushes bait fish up. Especially if you can fish a bank that has been wind blown for several days.
