We have a 2015 Ranger Z521 with a 225 Yamaha 250 SHO. I checked the specs and the boat weighs about 1,925 pounds. I am not sure if that includes the Yamaha or not. Then there is the trailer.

We are considering purchasing a new RV and we are confused about the towing weight.

Does anyone know approximately how much our boat, engine and trailer weigh?

And does anyone else pull with a Class C RV?

2k boat, 1k trailer, 500 motor, 250 gas @30 gallons assuming you tow at half tank, and the tackle and gear. I figure 4500 max.

Your numbers are light for sure.

521 trailers are more than 1000 pounds. I have one. (There's a weight label on it I think, more than 1200#.)
hull per Ranger, doesn't include engine to answer the OP's question. It is JUST the hull.
30 gallons of gas is 180 pounds. 50 gallons would be 300 pounds.
You forgot the trolling motor. A 36V is probably on the 521, weighs how much? Pretty heavy, 70# with foot pedal?
You forgot the batteries! Probably 4 of them @ more than 60 pounds each, so 250 pounds minimum.
Electronics: 20 pounds
Oil: 21 pounds approx.
Cooler contents: 20 pounds approx.
Tackle: could be 75 pounds or more?
Personal gear, tools, dock lines, misc.: 15 pounds
Power poles or Talons: 30 pounds each, if you have them.
Cover: 20 pounds (if you use one)

I would load it up just as you would want to tow it and take it to scales and have it weighed.

He didn't include motor weight in the hull. He has 2000 hull (which is 80 lbs of extra weight). And then he says 30 gallons of gas is roughly 250 lbs, which is 70 lbs heavy also. So he's got an extra 150 lbs built into those estimates, and then adds 750 lbs in for extra miscellaneous weight at the end, meaning he really has 900 lbs of miscellaneous weight.

Your estimates of miscellaneous weight add up to 551 lbs, which still leaves 349 lbs of margin for more gas, a slightly heavier trailer, etc. I don't see how a Z521 could be very much past 4,500 lbs - enough past to make a noticeable difference in towing anyway.

I focused on adding up the things K.D. did list, which left out a lot. I did not focus on his magical 4500 max conclusion at the end of his post. My statement about the motor weight was for the OP's benefit, not K.D.. The OP had said he did not know if the motor was included in hull weight or not. I was confirming that it is NOT part of the hull weight and must be added separately, which K.D. did.

I just added up the known weights of all the components on my 521 (which includes 2 Power Poles and a hydraulic jackplate among other things). With 50 gal. of fuel, I break over 4500# before adding anything for tackle or personal gear. So, I did break over 4500# readily, but agree it won't hit 5000#, and that's not a huge difference for towing.

Agreed, but it probably won't be a surprise. In fact, it will show less in weight as the scale won't sense the force sitting on the tongue. I think CatScale (available at many truck stops) will do it for about $15. Find locations at catscale.com.

If you do not unhook at the scale you could get the tongue weight with a bathroom scale.
