Was thinking about going catfishing out there on Memorial Day.....anyone been there lately?

I read that they closed off the crappie wall.
Maybe someone can confirm this?
Something about homeland security or at least that is who CPS blamed.
Wouldn't surprise me if they closed off half the lake or the whole lake altogether.
I think it's more about showing off their power than anything else!

According to the latest fishing report from TPWD they're still catching the reds at the wall. I sure hope it's not off limits, I was planning a trip in the next couple weeks.

Yup the wall is off limits thanks to trespassers, touching the wall is a violation of homeland security, beware of the gator as well

yep, was out there yesterday and saw the gator and got the lecture about the wall. they said cps warned of issuing trespassing citations and that there were several people over time that had got hurt, walked along the jetties and recently some freakin genius's put their kayaks over the wall and paddled up the channel. no catfish yesterday and fished it last monday and only one small channel. been a couple keeper reds and a bunch of 12-14" reds.

I've been out there the last few days. I can confirm the wall is permanently closed. They will be putting a cable and buoys around it like what's currently at the damn to keep people out. I never fish the wall, just by boat but I do wonder how the wall closing will affect the red fishing. We got a few this week but even some of the local guides told me it's been a bad week.

I do wonder how the wall closing will affect the red fishing? Should help by working as a sanctuary. There has been tons of fish caught off the wall, so it should help.

That is disappointing to hear about the wall and your catfish reports. My son caught a 32" 16lb red off the wall over Spring Break. Well hopefully the fish will start biting soon, I know the weather this week will off and on so I guess we will play it by ear.
