What always amazes me is the I would never do that. I agree, I wouldn't do any of this either, but who the h377 is? Do these guys not exist, or is it some of us..... And, how can we "encourage them/us" to not do it?

Blame it on the Cajuns... I was going to ask if the catch and cook was a Cajun thing Of course it is. No one from Texas has ever put the knife to a big bass. All big bass caught by Texas residents are released to fight another day. All bass carcasses seen in the dumpsters at Texas lakes were caught by us Cajuns. Now I can understand people fishing the lake. Not all people look at the elite's schedule before planning a weekend getaway. But certainly Toledo is big enough that you don't have to fish the same spots as the pros. There's no excuse for that especially intentionally fishing locations the pros are fishing. This Cajun would prefer to find his own "spot" and figure out how to catch them on his own. IMO that is what makes fishing fun. I keep saying I'm going to hire a guide on Alan Henry, but I just don't want to do it. It would make it so much more rewarding if I can figure out how to target those largemouths on my own.

Saw that yesterday on this private group on the FB. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Toledobe...463425709732803Been a member for about 6 months. I frequently follow the pages of folks that post pics of fish obviously on the way to the filet table or already on it. I won't say they are Cajun because plenty of La. folks are not of French Acadian heritage. I'd guess at least 80% are from La.. Very predictable. Now if you want a fish dinner (despite the mercury) be kool and filet a few 14"-15" fish. There was actually a thread about the mercury and limiting intake and more than a couple said it wouldn't slow them down, they'll eat all they want.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I have a older friend from La and he has told me on more than one occasion about how they "used to load the boat with 5 lbers" back in the day and filet and eat every one of them. Funny thing now or actually sad, he tells me now about how tough the fishing is at these same lakes today. He blames it on tournament guys,,, lololol,,, I always say you dont think all them years of loading the boat with 5 pounders didnt hurt the lake? Nope,,,, its all them tournament guys ruining it. These lakes are all small places he says and pretty shallow all up in the N part of La, but me and this guy cant fish together because I personally dont keep fish period, and he wants to keep everything... lolol..
And im sure some Tx guys keep bass, but I would bet its 1 Tx guy to 10 La. But legal is legal!

I've spent my whole life saying just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Everyone is so caught up in their "right" to do things. Makes me think of the open carry clowns.

BASS has been to Toledo Bend a few times now over the recent past and this bull crud behavior of fishing the tournament anglers spots during the tournament was previously not this bad. Whether it is Toledo Bend, Fork or Falcon - the better the lake fishes it seems to bring out the worst "fisherman" from an abuse the resource and on the water etiquette perspective.
I guess this is the bad part of "growing the sport", creating great fisheries and live tournament coverage. Makes me sick...

They are true. I have seen countless pics and people fishing with like 20 bass just flopping around in the bottom of the boat. I fish the sabine river and the LA part does not have a limit so they keep everything they catch for the most part. This is not all people from LA but the ones who do keep them do so in excess.

Society is taking a wrong turn. It's just bleeding over into fishing, unfortunately.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.
