Anybody have any recent reports?
I will be fishing there for the first time next weekend and wanted to know what to throw out there and what kind of structure to focus on/look for targeting bass?
I'll be fishing out of a kayak if that helps any
Thanks in advance for any input/help!

It's getting busy out there, be prepared to be bombarded with wakes. Where are you going to launch from?

Thanks for the heads up.
I think on any major lake,"we" (kayakers) are aware that we will have to watch out for this. I will always try a place at least once and if it has to much traffic I will either not go back or go when I know boat/jetski traffic isnt as heavy....
I will be launching out of Joe's Marina

Cubbychaser- I fished for a few hours last week. Wasnt able to run to some spots I wanted to due to boat problems. Fished in 10 ft. of water with small rattle traps and large roadrunners and had fun catching the B. Bass that are getting big fast from the stocking they did. They averaged averaged around a pound but were fun slamming our baits! I visited with a guy on our way out that was pumped because he caught a Small mouth that was aroung 2 lbs. Over all the lake is beautful and had come up a little more from the recent rains. Im headed back Wed., now That my boat is in better shape. Will give a report when I return. Rio
My stringer is getting there!!

Rio- Thanks for the report. Looking forward to your report during the week!
I know that I can expect to catch dinks all day which is never a bad problem to have.

EDIT: I don't even know where Joes marina is??? I've been launching from the county park, it's a pretty nice place and the annual pass is cheap. You'd be pretty safe up the river; but I honestly don't know how far it's good for fishing.
Smallmouth in Medina? First I've heard of them.

Next month it will be a year (link below) since TP&W introduced the 204,000 babies into her waters and they have grown very fast this past year, due to the lake holding itself at a good level along with plenty of forage. http://www.ksat.com/news/medina-lake-filled-with-200k-large-mouth-bassChubbyChaser, you would be surprised the numbers of decent size bass still in the lake Try a top water and a square bill... Good Luck !! Debra

Joe's Place Marina is next to Red's Cove down towards the dam, other side of the lake from County Park (its not a state park)FYI. Most definitely small mouth in Medina, have caught them for years. Debra Yes, you are correct. I have a habit of calling it "state park" for some reason. I don't know why, I guess Choke has etched it into my brain. Is Joes a good place for him to launch a kayak or should he try someplace else?

No problem you are not the only one that refers to the County Park a State Park Absolutely he can launch there, the concrete ramp is not usable for big boats just need another 5-6 foot and she will be !! I fished there for the first time ever, we were staying at the Lake Medina resort, dodged rain showers but fished about five hours, caught 15 bass with four keepers, had 1 around 3 pounds on a baby brush hog, a 4 pounder on a black blue beaver. But most of the other fish come on a watermelon chatterbait. Fish were in 2 to 6 feet.

Thanks to all for the replies thus far. I appreciate the guidance.
My game plan was to use the following throughout the day: a popper type top-water in the morning, trolling a rattle trap/crank, a structure jig, and carolina/texas rig with either a senko, brushhog, or curly tail worm.
Only dilemma I'm facing is I do not know what kind of structure to expect so not sure what kind of structure to be rigged for....

I don't fish down by the dam much but I think it is mostly rock banks. There's a lot of docks but I think most would be too far away to reach with a kayak. Debra can provide a lot more insight on the lake than I can though, I believe she lives really close from previous post of hers.
