Yes they are really a great top water bait; because they can give a Bass what it is looking for during more seasonal condition than most of the others. - In the early spring you can fish it exceptionally slow and make it do what it does best with the ever so slight pop. - In the late spring when the shad are spawning and schools of bass are on the post spawn pattern; It can be made to make those long flowing jerks and spit the bubble in a way the schooling fish really like. - During the summer in early morning and late afternoon; with the pop, pop, pop and set methods it is hard to beat. - From fall to winter the trend continues to be one of the baits that I use to locate shore line fish.
This is what I have found. I can count on the Yellow Magic to find a limit of bass for me; but if I want that huge bass I have always caught her on my Spook. The Spook has more seasonal limitations; but when the conditions of heavy cover and weather is right nothing will beat if for Big Bass. The 180 degree turns that it will make while sitting in one spot is irresistible to big fish. It is that dying quiver that they are looking for and not the walking action. This is where the Magic cannot compete.

Yes, it's my choice for top water.
If it was easy, everyone would do it

Great top water bait. Walks easily and catches big fish. Pricey but worth it IMO

No, they are not a good topwater lure, they are a GREAT topwaterlure. Especially, the discontinued 3/8 Plus 1 lure. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I killed them with a YM this evening. A couple of bass hit before I moved it an inch. YMs sort of wiggle in the water as they settle and the feather dances around - the fish can take it. Another time, I paused to slap a mosquito and bam! Another bass. YMs are so good, they make me look like I know what I'm doing.

I use them all year long and have been for many years. Hot or cold weather, they will knock the daylights out it. Now everyone in our club is buying them up and the pressure is on!! Should have kept it secret.

Should have kept it secret. Its not a recent secret. We are almost 20 years into this Yellow Magic phenomenom. They have been around and been VERY popular for a long time now. Some of us remember the Yellow Magic +1 models as well. Great baits.
