White bass seem to elude me when none of the other species that I target do. I can't get a school of fish to bite to save my life. I have thrown more lures than I could list at them w/o any success. Take a look at these screen shots and tell me what they look like to you. I assumed it was a school of whites, but I couldn't catch one to confirm it. I know that they aren't actively feeding, but I figured I could as least get one interested fish and failed to do so.

On the last sonar on the right part of it at 20 fow, that could be a few white bass. It's worth the money to hire a guide to give you a teaching trip. They'll show how to locate them, what they look like on sonar and how to catch them.

If I were on the water, I would look for a greater concentration of fish than what your graph is showing. I know that sounds like a weird thing to say, but the top left picture resembles more of a school of shad/small yellow bass than it does a school of sandbass. A large school of sandbass will be much less transparent and appear with more red than the transparent purple your seeing in relation to the bottom in both pictures. When you do find yourself over a large school of whites, you'll also see several hundred small white dots on your side imaging that what is shown in your bottom picture.

Again, not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to ease the learning curve.

Nothing easier to catch than sand bass. Maybe you should budget a guide trip? You could learn some techniques that could help.

I was crappie fishing yesterday at ray Roberts when sandies started popping the water all around me. I took a break from crappie fishing and caught a few casting my little crappie jig into all that action. They were triggering on very small fry but would still hit that crappie jig.

You want higher concentrations of fish than when your looking for cats!!!

Own a 1/2 0r 3/4 oz slab in white, silver, or chartreuse?

This spring has been tough. Last year at this time of year my boat was averaging 200+ fish per trip. Water clarity is way off. Fish and bait is not balling up like it was. Weather is crazy.

We've had a few good trips this spring and several bad ones.

For finding fish a Rat-L-trap can work or something like a Little George. You want/need both flash and noise.

Of course if you find 'em schooling most anything will catch them.

Had some activity on Tawakoni this morning where the shad were jumping and something was chasing them. Never drew a strike

On my Lowrance units, white's show up as smaller but heavier echoes in 2D. Lots of strong returns on white bass. You find a concentration, start trolling with baits that run in/near their range. Use the GPS to stay on top of them.
