I blanked there yesterday also. Fished sunrise to noon. Fished a week ago and killed it only to strike out this week. Weird deal for me as well

I went out fishing yesterday for the first time in about two months and I only caught one fish running my regular patterns. Then I was tipped off as to what the bass were doing. They were in clear water only a few feet deep and were chasing baby shad (or some other type of fish fingerlings). The baby fish were maybe an inch long. But there were several good bass chasing them. I saw several bass busting the surface. I was able to land 2 a few good fish, biggest being about 4 1/2 and lost one over 5 lbs at the boat. The moral of my story is that the fish on my favorite lake were really shallow.

Most of the LMB are still shallow. High stained water with flooded secondary growth, shad and bluegill spawns, bass fry, water surface temps below 83 degrees. High of 65 degrees forecasted for Sunday (overnight low of 55). More rains just about every day for the next seven days. Don't see a daytime high north of 85 degrees until next Saturday.

Only real bite I've found is buzzbaiting around grass and docks early in the morning and on the overcast/rainy days we've had. Been a great year for topwater so far

Meanwhile I've had one of my worst years ever for topwater. Haven't caught a single fish on a frog yet and only a hand full on the YM and the spook.

I think I forgot how to fish lakes with water in them. . .

And have caught a lot of big fish this year. With the lakes up and full, you wont have to worry about me sitting on your favorite deep hole.

You just missed it. Caught 23 today at Athens. Be back tomorrow night to do it again!

I've been seeing them in 8-12 FOW, but We've graphed some way out deep and caught a few in the 15+ range. Still a bunch shallow, post spawn staging spots. It is 100% dependent on the lake though.

Topwater is where it's at right now on a lot of the lakes around here.
