We will be camping at South Sulpher and I will only have my kayak. Leaving my big boat at home. I was planning on going out to the first drop off in front of state park. Thoughts?????,

The drop offs and humps out in front of Tira ramp usually produce. May want to give that a try also.

How hard is it catching shad on Cooper? I was thinking of spending a couple days on the lake. How crowded does the lake get?
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

You can fish naked there at times. Very little boat traffic however it has gotten busier since the water is back.
Shad are in typical places and its hit and miss. Boat ramps, rocks, along the dam etc.
If ya have shad, you can catch plenty catfish if your into that kinda thing.

KBW, Thanks for the info.
The old man from down the street wants to head out there next week for a few days. We're going to try and catch some blue cats, then switch over to whites and hopefully catch a few hybrids. Will arrive on the 18th, come home on the 21st. Hopefully we will miss the crowd. 60% chance of rain might keep people home. I'm looking on the positive side, 40% chance it won't rain, and cloud cover will be a good thing.

Which park are you going to? Doctors creek has been flooding every time it comes a good rain. A couple of weeks ago it was all closed except the boat ramp. I'd stay at South Sulphur Unit if I was you. Sorry I just reread your first post. Good luck.

How the trip to Cooper go? We're waiting on the follow up report.
