Hello all.
I am fairly new to using lights. Just curious, is it best to drop the lights or put them directly under the surface?
I can sink my lights to about 20 feet, but I am unsure about doing so.
Is it common to situate your lights a few feet under the water and target deeper depths? Or should I put the lights at the target depth?

I'm no expert, but I only sunk them below the boat hull so they will shine in a complete circle. Works for me

Just below the surface. You want to attract bait fish and they hang out on the top of the water column. the light draws in the bait and they bring in the predator fish. I have used both drop and spot lights and both have their advantage. I would say with personal experience that green drop lights are the best and a good LED spot lamp to shine down on the water and provide heat which brings in more bait. Good luck!
