I'm considering trying a spinning reel rig for Dropshot. Thus far I've only used bait casters. What do you Dropshot experts use?

Baitcaster works. And I prefer a baitcaster. Just wondering if there is a benefit to using a spinning rig.

Spinning real you can working floating docks and left it dead fall again fast working it up and down on suspended fish. Also feel like I can reel in on a bite without needing much hookset. But I still use both setups.

But I use much heavier variations of a drop shot that I absolutely use a bait caster on.

I use both, spinning reel is great in big wind, no back lash worries.

I don't even own a spinning reel, just haven't felt the need. Only use bait caster for drop shot, shaky head etc.

I've never used anything BUT spinning gear to dropshot.

Baitcaster works. And I prefer a baitcaster. Just wondering if there is a benefit to using a spinning rig. I use a baitcaster most of the time with a custom drop shot rod from Reel Time rods, Shimano Curado 50E and 8 pound line. I like using the baitcaster way better than the spinning rig. The only time I use spinning gear is when I am fishing in deep water 24+ and I see the fish on the screen right under the boat.

I use bait caster for all presentation, including drop shot and shaky head. Works for me, but maybe not for all fishermen. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
