JJ4MEL Most of the guys who post here show a little more respect when we catch carp and buffalo. We like to return the fish back the way we caught them without any damages in order for them to continue to grow and be able to catch them again .. Try to either get you a weigh sling or weigh the fish in the net ,there should be no reason to puncture a hole on the fish which could possible get infected just to get a weight and a picture ,Please reconsider my comment about fish safety .... Thank you ,W/R/J

P.B. Carp ....29 lbs .... P.B. Buffalo 34.4

Why is it ever time someone is not a professional carp/buffalo angler posts a pic of a fish, they're always doing it wrong? I'm simply showing my daughter's catch. I didn't have a weigh sling or a net. I respect fish just like any other angler. I didn't puncture a hole in his mouth, I went through the same hole where the hook went out. Maybe next time I should just consider a lasso. It was just a few weeks ago you posted about Mike Doran taking a photo of his carp on the ground and that a no no. Give it a rest. Next time I just won't post any pics of my kid catching a prize fish.

JJ4MEL , Please try not to get to discouraged by the way criticism appears to sound . I have found myself a little thin skinned myself by the way some people seem to come across , but their intentions are well placed . Your daughter has some nice fish, thank you for sharing , I watched a guy catch the biggest buff carp I had ever seen , It was as big as two 5 gallon buckets , funny thing was that it looked as healthy as could be but it hardly put up a fight , He did not weigh it since he did not have a sling , He caught it while cat fishing and didn't have his carp gear , he showed me all kinds of details about their mouths and lips , He truly loved Carp , Until he showed me just how delicate the mouth and lips were I would have picked it up and weighed it just like you did , This is how we become more knowledgeable about fish care is through others advice and concerns . On a side note , I had a chance to confront what I felt was a very rude person on this forum face to face , he turned out to be a great person with a wealth of knowledge but the choice of words typed on a keyboard does not reflect the tone of a persons tone of voice or body language or facial expressions , he was very upset to have ruffled me and I understood better how input can feel like a scolding . When a carp is suspended by its mouth , all of its body weight and thrashing can cause serious life threating complications . Thank you for posting such great pictures of your daughter with her fish , she looks like she is beaming with joy with her fish .

Thanks for asking. i haven't tried it yet. i need to find a right spot first. pond i go near by my house has full of giant bluegills and turtles. but not that many carps. i am considering a pond at pepters colony and josey ln, but that's little too far from Mckinney. i'll provide a report for sure if I go. how's your fishing going?

BTW, I think the plural of "carp" is "carp" (not carps).

have not been carp fishing this week. been out in the kayak fishing for bass. not doing well with that. too much wind and post front bluebird skies when i have gone.

today looks good.

Been doing fair at LL, I have caught a bunch of buffalo at tower bay on dough bait none over 10 but still fun. I have always caught mostly carp and have not seen one of those in almost 2 weeks.

dunky,
I go bank fishing off main st in the colony all the time. turn down the road by the old mcdonalds and follow it all the way back until the trail opens up.
that bank is LOADED with big carp. you might have to walk a ways to find them, but they are always there in numbers...
Pier121 also has HUGE carp and you can probably catch em with any kind of rigs
