to name a few Osprey, Jerry Rago and Optimum J Rago has history with Osprey Lures Line thru baits as you may know dont have top hooks, trebles underneath the bait as the bait slides up the line less leverage for the fish to throw the bait I would look into boot tails vs paddle tails before buying expensive baits the boot tail baits are more of a slow and easy wander in the water the paddle tails have alot more action side to side and when in doubt the hitch color or light hitch works everywhere with decent visability to the water. As for Optimum google Fred Roumbanis favorite line thru. Bait smith made some smaller 6 " boot tails which work great but fish very sloow.

The size is the discontinued part... at least that was the deal with Kennedys bait, I saw the smaller size at bps like 2 weeks ago

yea Kennedys bait was a specfic size I would guess the right size and color would fetch a good price, for line thrus you can get inserts for the nose of the bait so the line dosent cut the plastic so much even seen guys cut small plastic straws for stirring coffee found in convienience as an insert to keep the nose of the bait from tearing.

Osprey Tournament 6" Line Through My favorite by far is this one. Between a Rago, Optimum, Top Shelf, and Predator's, the Osprey has caught me the most and the biggest fish. If you're gonna throw a big, line-through swimbait, now's the time to do it!

foosman thanks for posting the S kennedy piece. he is truly one of the greats who does it his own way. Just a great guy and one of the best anglers ever his father was an offshore structure fisherman and Steve came up that way also he was so good the father' while he won money he just was an alabama workin' man and some say those who really know he one one if not the best anglers not to give up his bread winning job and go pro Steve is like that as well one of the few who makes his money fishing not on endorsements he is his own man kinda speak pays the bills and that is very hard to do now on tour. I met Steve and Julie; Louie the family dog before the kids back then at clearlake I managed a tackleshop stocked with all the best swimbaits he spent 5k on swimbaits mostly at clearlake outdoors from me and some in a shop in towm as well then known as tackle it back then on line sales were few and the boys stocked up at the local shops out west.

Here's a stupid question but I know nothing about swim baits. What is a "line thru"? I'm assuming there is a way to pass line through lure some place?

Here's a stupid question but I know nothing about swim baits. What is a "line thru"? I'm assuming there is a way to pass line through lure some place? Not a stupid question. A Line Thru bait has a tiny plastic sleeve that allows you to run the line thru the nose of the bait and out the belly. You tie a large double or treble hook hook to this and stick a point of the hook into the body of the bait to hold it up close. The benefit of a line thru bait is when a fish takes the bait and gets hooked, the heavy swimbait can slide up the line freely as the fish comes up shaking its head trying to throw it. Some of these baits weigh over half a pound. Not a typo, half a POUND! When you have that much weight attached to a fixed hook, the fish can many times shake the bait loose as it is jumping & thrashing around. Go to Youtube and just start watching videos of swimbaits.
