probably Pelican Island or Texas City Dyke would be a good bet.

My man that is like asking what the winning lotto numbers will be, not trying to be sarcastic, it's just with all this water coming down its hard to say if they will be there tomorrow if you found em there today. Just a suggestion get a Hot Spot Wade Fishing map for the area you want to fish. It will list areas where you can expect to catch certain species at given times during the year. Hopefully as we get closer to the weekend someone will be able to offer better feedback, good luck.

West bay stays pretty clean during the heavy rains.

West bay was where I planned on going especially after these rains. Ivery been out just east of slp and have had luck before . I've tried at the end of sportsman Rd and 8 mile rd but have never had luck there. I know it's hit or miss but I was just trying to find new areas. Where can I pick up one of those hot spot wade maps?

I know it's hit or miss but I was just trying to find new areas. Where can I pick up one of those hot spot wade maps? Each area within each bay can be very seasonal (good at certain times of year / bad during others.) With the current rain the fish will be in the passes, the jetties, and east bay just like last summer. The recommendations of areas above will be fine with the rain. Ya'll have fun. t

I was about to ask the same question. I am heading to Jamaica Beach this Thursday. Hopefully I can find something planning on fishing the bay and the surf. Mullet and Shrimp best bait? I am not asking for lottery numbers, just a bit of information since I have never fished saltwater before. having a light in the water off a dock work as good as lit fresh water docks

Places... surf, groins, and jetties (south jetty) are now all good places. Same for San luis pass area. If the wind is out of the north hit the beach, if out of the south hit the pass and behind the pass. Wear your life preserver fishing the pass. Lights in saltwater are even better than fresh. Find one of your spook juniors or zara spooks and tie it on and go after it. If you want to understand more about fishing salt vs fresh that is what our DVD series is all about.

Hey Jherzik, don't know if you'll see this post in time for your trip, but I fished E ast G Bay yesterday. I found decent water in the middle of the bay and a bout a mile of the S shoreline from Yates towards Big Pasture. I also ran to the jetties, the water was very poor at the jetties. We had some hellacious weather come through here on Wednesday morning. The forecast for this weekend is pretty bleak also, up to 8" of rain. I think you were saying you were thinking about walking in wade fishing, but I just wanted to reference some of the places that had been recommended to give you a first hand report. Truly if it were me I would be looking west, as some of the post have said you may find better water. Good luck and keep an eye on the weather. Supposed to have some real high tides with strong currents, be careful and as Tobin said if you wade SLP wear a life jacket,

Thanks for the advice. Just curious, Is there a way to get to the south shoreline of East Bay without a boat? If the rain isn't as bad as the weatherman says I am going to west bay. I hope it's not that bad!! Either way I will be relaxing!! Thanks for all the help and advice!!!

The S shoreline of East Bay is bordered by the Inter-coastal canal, so no not really, however there is one area that you can get to and it can be a good area at times. If you cross over on the ferry to get to Boliver, the first road on your left, Frenchtown Rd on Google Maps. You may have to go to the second if cars are stacked up waiting to get on the ferry, you may not be able to turn. Or you could go down past the end of the line of cars U-turn and come back. Anyhow, once you get on this road go until you get to a bridge that crosses a drain coming from the marsh. The marsh will be on your right and the bay / channel will be on your left. Both areas can be very productive for the big 3. The flats on the bay side are probably considered Lower G bay, but closeenough to East G bay. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of good reports there. I have gotten good reports on other areas not far from there. Just remember big tides and strong currents this weekend. On the bay side you are exposed to ship traffic which can push some nasty unexpected wakes as well. West bay may be your best bet , good luck, let us know how you do.
