If it'll fit in their mouth or they 'think' it'll fit in their mouth they'll eat it. I've found small bass, bluegill, catfish, crayfish in them. It's amazing what some of the bigger fish have in their bellies. If you catch one 11-12 inches or more and choose to eat...Always check on what's in their stomach! You'll be surprised.

I have seen one crappie over 3 lbs in my life. It was caught on trotline out of Whiterock lake back in the early 70's. It was caught on small bluegill.

I totally agree I've caught 6-7" crappie on a bulky 3 1/8" Tadpole.......the jig head was completely out of sight when I pulled this fish up This was in November last year down by the dam out of 28 fow, Then again, I've stuck many a Toad on a 1/32oz jig with a 1 3/4" bait

I use to fish for them on Grapevine with some of the largest threadfin shad that I ever saw. I lost a bunch right at the boat that were not hooked but just in the process of spitting out the bait. I also use to fish Grapevine for sandbass with medium size gizzard shad. No need to worry about the yellow or the dinks.

Biggest crappie I ever caught was on a spook in one of our stock tanks. Thought I had a decent bass. Probably about 2 lbs.
