I don't know how much these guides know but I do know that Jimmy knows that creek pretty well and does catch fish almost every time.

Carey and his crew know how to find these fish anywhere and everywhere but they and many others have mislead this thread with claiming stringers of fish caught elsewhere came from RC, for us that know it's laughable, but to the newbie trying to learn it's very discouraging. KFJ on the other hand is one of the most honest and willing to help individuals I've ever had the pleasure to fish with! I fished most of last season with him and Highbread and we slayed them every time!

Three days ago I was there. 3 long distance released hybrids, 2 man limit. And more 8 to 11 inch fish that you can shake a stick at. The run is at its peak. You might've just been fishing on an off day or time, or maybe even the wrong place? And I will tell you we are way way the heck upstream of Miller and 66. There are definitely still thousands of fish in the creek right now. There are definitely still thousands of fish in Rowlett Creek. The 3 inch Mr. twister white Grubbs have been the bomb this year. Chartreuse also has been getting 25% of them. When it slows down we just switch colors and they usually start to bite again. Some days you got a power fish pockets. Catch four five in each pocket then move. And, I suggest after you walk upstream and you have 15 fish or so, I would turn around and fish your way back so you don't have to carry 40 pounds of Sandy's on the stringer all the way back.
With all the rain coming I don't know if we'll be able to fish anymore this season. Hopefully the weather man is wrong. Tomorrow is probably the last day this week you might be able to hit the creek with Clearwater. Maybe this wasn't clear enough... Friday and Saturday we pulled limits and then some from RC. Friday they were keyed in on 1/8th oz Rat-l-traps, and Saturday the spinner bite was a little better. Just gotta go explore and play with different techniques until you figure out what's working. Where you were catching them last week, may not be where they're stacked today. We never claimed to only be at RC. We're just posting reports to give people an idea on what the fish are doing. There are just as many fish in RC as any other creek in the metroplex. Just not as crowded. If you get away from the crowds you'll find the fish. We only saw two other people all day, where we were catching them on RC. Both being former clients, doing what we taught them and leaving with their limit as well. Here's a hint that might help some of you out... Wherever you're fishing, go upstream. If you think you're far enough, keep walking. When you're tired of walking, walk a little farther and you will find the fish. Bring a machete.

Anyone who has fished for the creek with 5 years of experience can charge $100 a person to beginners and have them walk a long ways. We can bring our cheapest hand-tied lures and minnows to catch the sandies. Not a bad living...I should do this on the side. Catch at least one fish or it's free. Hell, I'll even do this...catch at least 5 fish or it's free. I'm spending my free afternoon do what I enjoy. Why not have a partner to fish with and he can put $100-$200 in my pocket. If we get skunked...oh well then I don't get paid. Still better than sitting at home or work. Even 10 fish guarantee seems reasonable with my skills.

Spray paint the inside of a white bucket black, hook up a battery powered aerator and keep them out of the sun.

Remember guys to become a millionaire guiding start out a billionaire Or just to make some quick cash on the side which isn't chump change...it will definitely pay for the guide fee. Who's up for it? More guides, more competition...cheaper guide rates. cheaper for beginners to afford. that's how they do it on the coast. How much is a guide fee, $500? You can make that on 2 trips, just need to wrangle up some beginners who don't know much about fishing.

Spray paint the inside of a white bucket black, hook up a battery powered aerator and keep them out of the sun. Also get some Simply Orange orange juice bottles, boil off labels, fill with water, freeze, and drop in bucket with shad. Will keep water cooler longer. I say Simply Orange cause those have lasted the longest, but you can use any plastic bottle that has a tight lid.

That 3 inch white grub has been the ticket this year, along with that Bobby Garland Scent WigglR in Chartreuse, even went up to a 1/8 jig head this year, something I've never done for the run, and pulled out a lot more maggies.

You won't be able to keep shad alive for more than 20-30 minutes. You can only keep about a dozen in a 5 gallon bucket. I recommend not using ice because it will cause them to be shocked whenever they go back in the warm creek water. Best way to do it is net you a dozen or so lively shad, and drop them in a 5 gallon aerated bucket, wait 5 minutes for them to let off the stress ammonia and scales and stuff, dump the shad in to a net, then put them in a second aerorated bucket with fresh water. I do suggest keeping them in the shade, repeat after you use your dozen shad or they die.
