It really makes you wonder sometimes where people are at mentally and whether everyone should have the privileged of driving a boat or a truck.

With the hit on the port side it looks like the "give way" boat didn't. Lots of boats out there. It can be hard to keep track of all the lights assuming they all are working.
Be careful out there. This could easily been much worse.

Be careful out there. This could easily been much worse. What does port side have to do with anything. No matter what side got hit, the "give way" boat didn't give.

You obviously don't know boating rights of way. If you're approaching a boat on its port side you have to give that boat right of way...... Had he been hit on starboard side it would've been the boat that got hits fault

Very fortunate there wasn't serious injuries. Makes me wonder how the big screen displays everyone has these days effects their night vision?

Correct, which side he got hit on changes who the give way boat is. So no matter which side got hit, the give way boat didn't give way. It just changes who that is. Had he been hit on starboard side it would've been the boat that got hits fault

I'm sure we're all guilty of this, but I admittedly had a close call with a marker buoy on PK thursday. distracted by my screen while driving. Had there been a boat coming at me and both of us looking at our sonars could be a disastrous turnout and I can see it happening if you get complacent. I think it can be as bad as cell phones in the car. Now I'll pull to the side and shut down if I need to really studdy something on my screen. Lesson learned that I'll defiantly avoid from now on
