Remember what we've been saying, Creeks hold shallow Crappie in the winter. Can't say what Creek but a little scouting can pay off big. Yes, water was muddy and it was cold and I didn't care. I caught all my fish on a 1/16 oz Roadrunner, black/chartruese.

either Cedar Creek, or Lewisville. Hickory Creek, Pecan Creek, Kings Creek.... theres creeks ALL over that hold fish like that. I catch them on bass jigs all the time in the winter.. some VERY big ones at times... I probably just need to quit chasing bass, and concentrate on crappie- I would be a much happier person.. LOL!

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Ronnie is correct, lots of Creeks in the area hold fish like that. It just takes a lot of trial & error to find the spots. I've been doing this for a lot of years and have spent MANY fishless days looking. When you do hit a good spot it doesn't make sense to spread it around too much. I got a bunch of guys mad at me a couple of years ago when I had the bank fishing seminar at Buck Creek & Range Creek and had about 35 fishermen suddenly in their secret holes.
I will keep reporting what is happening and leave it to you to find your own honey holes.
I think I will try some Creeks in East Texas next. Maybe Lake Palestine, Fork, Lake-O-the Pines, etc. In fact I bet Sam Rayburn creeks would be super. Anybody know?

I hope to try a couple of creeks at Rayburn this weekend. Will post results next week. Just picked up some RR's to add to my stash. Thanks for the tip. Jim

Ernest,
Can you tell me how you are fishing for crappie in the creeks at this time of year? Are you looking for brush, letting the RR sink to the bottom........etc. I haven't ever done this before and would like to give it a try.

What do the banks look like? Boat docks or brush piles, drop straight down with one split shot and minnow or small jigg.

You can do best right now with a jig or RR fished vertically just off the bottom. They weren't in the mood to chase a moving bait. A slip bobber will work just let it sit in one place for a bit. Best bet is to use a boat and sit still.

Thanks Ernest,
I always respect your opinion. Thank you for all that you do to help those of us with crappie hangups.
