Wed. morning thunderstorms in Van Zandt County threatened our long-awaited trip to Tawakoni with Matt, but we waited it out until bout 8:30, the storm passed, & the day turned out beautiful. Cool air, light breeze, calm water--175 hybrids, stripers, sandies, & a few catfish in the mix. Started out with live bait; caught some quality fish, when that slowed, went to Cocomo minnows of Super Duck Mike Oser fame, & continued hammering fish. Finished the day with what was left of the live bait putting more big fish in the boat. Learned a trick (new to me) with the hand-operated trolling motor mounted up high so the prop makes continuous splashing noise as opposed to thumping on the boat. Worked pretty good!

Good report, I was afraid all the rain would effect the bite for a few days. I'm really looking forward to the weekend and some nice weather. Can't wait to get on the water, I got the fishing bug real bad.
