Made up some tube (fly) streamers for the Hybrids. One of the great features of tubes is the ability to use multiple types and appropriate sizes of hooks. No matter which type of hook I used we were still gut and gill hooking some of these aggressive eaters. So I decided to try a circle hook. Circle hook on a streamer what a concept. Concerned about the hook up rate with a circle hook I keep statistics on hooked fish. Bottom line it works. Out of 30 hybrids caught, the classic circle hook set was 94%. A not properly set circle hook was thrown. Maybe no more gut hooks for several species.
