I do a lot of fishing around port O...
Feb 9th. sat out most of the night and only caught 2 trout. 1 14" and one 17". I was out next to Caballo Pass and ussually have good luck there with lights at night. Never bigguns but ussually consistent.
feb 10th. Went out before sunrise and headed to just about every spot I have fished in Espiritu Santo. I didnt catch a darn thing. At about 1:30pm I headed to the jetty and caught more sheepshead that I have ever before. I was there for about 4hrs and the whole time I was pulling in one after another for the most part. One of them by far the biggest I have ever caught. I was throwin em back left and right. Made for a fun after noon with light tackle. That night we ran up the colorado river,(have heard people get on the trout at night with lights.) we caught one slot red and one very large grey eel.
Hoping this weekend will be a little better! -K

Hey SpecK, at least it wasn't a complete bust. My wife and I fish out of POC also. Haven't been down yet, but are going to try this weekend or next hopefully. What were you using, bait or artificials? Sheepies are always fun to catch, especially when you have kids around. Were you inside the jetties, north or south? If your going back this weekend good luck, maybe we'll see ya out there. I have a 21 ft bayhawk.

We were using live shrimp on the sheephead. Just threw them on what I call a Jetty rig(steel liter with a slip wieght and a hook). We caught them on outside tip of the south jetty. Wen you come around the corner, there is a rock that is partly out of the water at high tide just about 10 ft. from the edge of the jetty. We hit that spot a lot. You just have to have a good driver and a good ancor man to get into the right spot in front of that rock. The current also has to be pushing you away from the jetty. We have caught more Bulls at that spot then anywhere else in POC.
Oh ya and if you are down there this weekend we will be in 3 boats. A Century 2180, a 18ft. flats cat, and a 19ft Kenner...
