The Mickey Mouse 3ft rod reel combos really are a good intro. BassPro also has the same, but name brand for about $25. I would take her to small pond and bluegill fish with worms to get her interested. Fun times and constant action.
Theres a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. Steven Wright

You might look at Daiwa underspin with an ultra lite 4' 6" spinning rod at least then you can have her grow with it. My wife loves her two.! Dan

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

In my opinion, at that age they will find a reel of any kind to be difficult and frustrating. I would take my daughter fishing at that age and she used a small cane pole with a hook. pinch on sinker and a bobber. we used bacon as bait. It stays on the hook well. She would catch blue gills for me to use as bait for bass and cats. Man she loved doing that.
