I went out Friday morning with a buddy. We each caught a limit. Cleaned them all and not one male.

Same here. 28 of 34 fish I caught Thursday and Friday (combined) were females with eggs.

Assuming everything isn't washed away, do you think it's possible I could use my tenkara rod to fish this stretch of water starting at Firewheel Road and working my ways upstream a bit on Saturday? I've got a few hours to kill in the morning/afternoon while my wife is out and about and I'd like to get some time on the water.

Depends on the weather, doubt the banks will be dry by next Saturday. Sunday they might be looking at the forecast the next several days.

The creek was a raging torrent today, highest I've seen it in a long time. I would say we're looking at at least 4-5 days for it to clear up and be back to fishable levels assuming we get no more rain after Tuesday, and it looks like it's going to rain through Wednesday. I would think the earliest RC will be fishable is going to be Sunday of next week, but more likely it'll be Monday before its fishable.

And then the next round of rain begins...or so they are saying now.

The creek is over 20 ft high, normally it's around 6. Last time it was this high was late Dec. Just hoping this clears more log jams than it creates.

I've got wading gear, if that helps.

Basically, I don't want to be stuck inside on Saturday, but need to be home in time for dinner, so if anyone has any fishing spot recommendations in the northeast Dallas/Garland/Rockwall area, I'm all ears. I like the tenkara idea because my gear setup is literally just the rod and my lanyard. Makes packing easier.

What about fishing for panfish somewhere on Ray Hubbard? I know there's a few bank spots at that little island halfway across the bridge on I30. Worth pursuing?

That little island was known as Robertson Park and is owned by the City of Rowlett now, and completely gated off-limits. They are supposed to build some sort of "resort" there, hotels and all. Bank fishing anywhere north on Hubbard should be good right now because the spawns, just have to get deep enough to get the fish with the high water levels.

If you have waders and soccer cleats, you should be okay for anything Saturday. Just watch your steps cause it will still be very muddy. Fishing RC, the problem is not really just the mud, it's the 10-12 ft vertical mud bank before the water. Hopefully the water has cleared by then.

I caught mainly females at 66 bridge on last Friday and almost all males at the gun range on Sunday morning before the rain came. I don't know if that indicates anything about fishing season is over or not.

Wind from the north, fisherman does not go forth.
Wind from the south, blows the bait in the fish's mouth.
Wind from the east, the fish bite least.
Wind from the west, the fish bite best.

Going to go try my new cast net today so I can get practice. I'll upload some pics of the raging river when I get back.

I'll be casting Hubbard, not RC.

Under 78 is a raging river, too much traffic on bridge and no where to safely stop and take a pic...but it was HIGH!

This is at Ben Davis an RC, which is a spot I think a lot of people don't know about behind Firewheel Mall.

This is RC and Pleasant Valley, same side Pleasant Valley opposite gun range...

And the part heading toward Bush...

You can see the construction crews have cleared trees on both sides, doubt they will be actually "working" anytime soon though.
