Looking to get a new flipping rod. I have an Abu Veritas now but I want to find something with better more responsive action. I'm no millionaire so $200 is about my max. I was looking at the Loomis E6X, TFO or a Dobyns. I've never fished a TFO or Dobyns. What are some brand/action suggestions? Or what rod/reel are you running?

Megabass Levante Flip Special is a great choice in that price point. VERY versatile rod too. From flipping, light to moderate punching, A rigs, small to medium soft/hard swimbaits to oversized bladed jigs for ledge fishing it can handle it all. Great tip that allows for better than average casting accuracy on a flipping rod to a good strong backbone. Its a solid choice.

Waft Iron Feather

For under $190, I truly believe that the Iron Feather series of rods is one of the best on the market. Waft is a relatively unknown rod company in the US. They're based out of South Africa and they build a KILLER rod! Just because they're basically unknown by most doesn't mean they're not great rods. They just fly under the radar.

One of the best features on the Iron Feather series is area around the reel seat. They minimized the reel seat on this rod a little bit so that you can feel the blank with your finger a lot better. The blank itself is 46 ton high modulus graphite and they are incredibly light and sensitive! They also have my favorite guides ever, the semi-micro guides.

Be sure to include Waft rods into your selecting process. They're a true hidden gem!

Diawa Zillion 7'6" Medium Heavy Fast is what I use. For the budget you described the Megabass Perfect Pitch comes to mind. Good rod. Well built. As for value....I've even used it for weightless work fishing in a pinch. Slightly stiff for it, but handled it ok. I'd imagine it would be excellent for jigs( all types),t rigs, and even c rigs.

Price is $200. But can be had for $180 at tackle warehouse right now.

I just use some 7'0 MH Duckett Ghosts...never had issues with them. Fish them everywhere from open water to pretty thick cover. If it's REAL nasty I use a 7'6 heavy Micro Magic pro. Fast reels of course
