I'm thinking about heading over there on Thursday weather permitting and try up in the sand branch area. Anyone been there lately? PM if you want it to remain private.

I caught 1 on a ned rig yesterday. Red z man shroomz with a green pumpkin red flake z man batwing. Sand was a bust for me though. Fish I was seeing were sitting on beds in flooded weeds so I'd just drop the batwing as close to the clumps of weeds as I could and let it do its wiggly thing maybe hop it slightly. Good luck

I fished the west side of the lake yesterday afternoon, focusing on the coves north of the Pecan creek area. Water was muddy, with visibility less than a foot. It was slow but I was thankful for the few I did get. Caught them on a t rigged chart pumpkin lizard.

Anyone got any suggestions on where I should go? I will be in my kayak so can only pick one area to fish. Traveling across the lake ain't gonna happen lol. I had three places in mind: Buck Creek, Snad Branch, or Wolf Creek. I'll can launch the kayak from the bank in Wolf Creek. Sand Branch Probably the ramp at Jordan? And Buck Creek has a ramp. Open to ideas though.
I don't fish the lake but once or twice a year if that.

Well, probably a little late for this post but my buddy and I got to the lake late on Saturday, bout 5:30 and put in at Jordan and decided we didn't have a lot of time to fish so scooted around left into Sand Branch. Caught 5 and lost about 5. Biggest was 6.2. Caught them all in about 2 - 3 FOW. All were in the flooded stick ups. No bites when we went deeper. Caught them on zoom green pumpkin speed craw, tipped in chartreuse. Big mama came on ol trusty black grape power worm. Felt we could have caught more as they were on after that rain but ran out of daylight. Were in a bass boat but wouldn't be a bad paddle back into there from Jordan if you had time. Sand Island has several good spots around it. I will be back in my yak!

Thanks bengood! I went today and only found one but only had 2 hours to fish. I'm gonna be fishing a kayak tournament on the 23rd and we go by inches instead of weight to score the fish. The one I caught went 15" so definitely not a monster. It was in a lay down about 2-2.5 ft deep. I fished the very back of the cove in the far back NE corner. I'm thinking to go to Buck Creek for the tournament day as I've seen some good reports from there. Problem is I assume everyone in the tournament will be there as well. My fish hit a 6" black and chartreuse tail power worm. It was a tough day. I'm gonna watch the weather too. We ar expecting a bunch of rain next week so I'm not sure how this will effect the lake. If it floods I may not be able to launch in some places. I'm thinking Sand Branch and Wolf Creek will be my back up plan depending on the lake level. I will tru around the island if I decide to go back to Sand.

Went this evening and caught 4. Fished sand branch. All fish were in less than 3ft. Biggest was about 2.5lbs. One fish had fry in its mouth. I didn't see any fish on beds today though.

Thanks for the report Steve! I'm thinking to go back to Sand Branch again... The one I caught was in about 2.5 ft as well. But I didn't have a lot of time to fish that day. I know there is a power boat tournament the same weekend as our kayak tournament. So I'm thinking Buck Creek will be packed since it is a very popular spot. If I can catch 5 I'd be happy. And I see rain in the forecast. Just have to make the best of it.
