Hey Guys,
Looking at fishing Brazos this weekend and it looks like it's flowing super fast. Does anyone have any info on the consistency of the flow? If the Brazos is flowing too fast I'm looking at the Nolan as a backup plan however I'm just begging to explore this really awesome river and was wondering if anyone had a good place to launch a yak besides the Nolan River Park. Is Rock Creek an option and if so how far upstream can we paddle?
Thanks,
Dustin

launch at hamms creek and go up river.you wont encounter any moving water until you get to the island 8.5 miles up river.plenty of places to fish in between.i went 18.3 miles round trip a few weeks ago in one day.scenary is beautiful bluffs turkeys deer and you can get out of the wind.i would make the trip before the wakeboarders and skiers overun the place.

Not sure what section of the Brazos you are fishing but the flow looks exactly like last weekend in the upper Brazos. Definitively not too fast but the weather doesn't looks that great.

I went yesterday while they were releasing close to 5000cfs. I'm not sure how you normally fish it but I had to totally change my tactics and holes. I was able to paddle back upstream but I didn't go as far as I normally do because it was so much work. But, at no point did I feel unsafe. As far as the fishing went, they were biting but they were hiding way up the bank out of the current.

Apparently they are dropping the flood gates on PK this weekend in anticipation of all of the rain headed our way. I wouldn't be shocked to see the same on Granbury and Whitney. Stay safe!

Somervell County Fire Department
SCFD Swift Water Rescue Team just got put on regional standby for this upcoming weekend. PK Lake is planning on floating 3 gates this weekend due to the lake being full and expecting 3-5 inches more rain, this May see a lot of water our way come Sunday and Monday.
